How Spending Time With Your Numbers Can Improve Your Life

Having a relationship with our financial information is very important and an essential element in that relationship is making the time and space to connect.  It’s hard to make time for this, I know.

If you are like a lot of entrepreneurs, you do what you have to do.

You get in and get out.

You make quick calculations that start with how much cash is in the bank and add what you think might come in soon.

You make sure it doesn’t go below some threshold set for the bank balance that keeps things from going off the rails.

If this is you, you are not alone.

Some people LOVE to work with numbers, and that’s wonderful.

And the reality is that many entrepreneurs are gifted in an area that has nothing to do with numbers, so their attention is drawn to their area of expertise.

We naturally want to spend our time in areas that come easy to us and that we enjoy.

Plus, there are lots of other things that need to be done besides numbers!

But I want to tell you about the intimacy that happens when heart-centered business owners create space for this connection to happen.

You create space to tell your secrets.

We let our secrets see the light of day when we spend time with our numbers. These are things we have a hard time confronting.

We keep them buried deep in our souls or carry them around on our backs as they steal energy from the present moment.

Things like:

  • Feeling the discomfort of knowing when something isn’t working, and we aren’t addressing it.

  • Being scared to release what is no longer serving.

  • Being terrified to make the changes that would increase profits.

  • Not wanting to hurt anyone’s feelings.

  • Needing to get paid more to support our families.

  • The desires we have for ourselves and our loved ones.

  • Knowing our businesses have a purpose beyond ourselves.

  • The impact we could make if we weren’t in survival mode.

These are the things that are heavy on our hearts and minds.

Don’t these things deserve some time, space, and love?

Here are some of the blessings I have had the honor of witnessing my clients receive as they improve their numbers:

  • The relief of realizing they could take a break and didn’t need to launch anything new during a period of burnout. They knew they would not run out of cash while refilling their tank.

  • The clarity in decision making knowing what needs to be done to make the numbers work even if those things are hard, like releasing a team member.

  • The increase in confidence as they take action to reach their financial goals and experience their results improving.

  • The satisfaction they feel as they pay off debt, save for taxes, and pay themselves well.

I can promise you that any time you spend understanding and nurturing your financial situation will return to you magnified.

And, it can be fun to hang out with your numbers! Especially if you don’t do it alone.

I’m creating a group program to help heart-centered online business owners experience what it’s like to have a regular practice of looking at their numbers so they can make informed decisions that lead to greater profits. And improve this vital relationship along the way.
