How My Money Consciousness Changed

Our money consciousness is shaped by many things, like our experiences, how our parents spoke about money, and our ancestral history. We all have our money stories, which are at play in our lives even if we aren’t aware of them.

I’d like to tell you a story about my childhood:

When I was a little girl, I went to the grocery store with my mother. Children go to the grocery store all the time with their mothers, but this day was different. I still remember stopping outside the store after we checked out.

My mother said, “ I had to write a hot check.”

“What’s a hot check?” I asked.

“It's when you don't have enough money in the bank to cover the check.”

Something inside me changed at that moment. I felt a deep sadness and instability, knowing we didn't have money for food. And I realize now that as a strong empath, I absorbed my mother's feelings of insecurity deep into my cells. I took them on as my own and carried them through my life.

Due to this experience, I don’t care what the grocery bill is to this day, while I may have a more challenging time spending money on other things.

This is one of the stories that shaped me. We all have them. They run deep inside, like threads in our DNA.

Overall, I learned to believe there was always enough money for everything you need but not much extra.

I lived my first 45 years in scarcity and stress around money. My financial plan was to work as hard as possible, make as much money as possible, and spend as little as possible.

Talk about survival mode.

And then, I got divorced and gained 100% autonomy over my financial life, and things began to change.

I genuinely believe that taking that leap of faith, living into my truth, and changing my life was the door that opened up and led me to a whole new way of being.

I believed my life could be different, and in support of that belief, life gave me experiences to confirm it.

Here are some of the experiences I had that changed my money consciousness.

  • One of my clients prepaid me for the following year’s accounting work, and I was able to use that money to buy a car and pay off debt post-divorce. Until then, I had never received such a large amount of money.

  • I met an accountant who showed me how easy it could be to make money in ways I never knew existed.

  • I started working closely with business owners and saw different ways people were profitable in business.

  • I heard stories about those who had created wealth from nothing through meditation and creating in the quantum field.

I became aware of the abundance of money and how much money there is on the planet.

My beliefs fundamentally changed.

I’m sharing this because I want you to know it is possible to change your money consciousness.

I've changed mine through seeing others’ stories and creating new ones of my own.

The story of the little girl above belongs to me, but it doesn’t define me anymore.

I never thought I could live a life without being in stress over money, and now I do. I want you to know that it is possible to change your consciousness around money, which will change your financial situation.

Financial forecasting is a beautiful tool that we can use to help us change how we think and feel about what is possible for us financially.

I invite you to contemplate a money story you might have taken on as your own and examine how it affects you.

I’d love to hear your stories. If you would like to share, email me at carol@carolleblanccpa.com and tell me your story. I would love to hear it.

Love,

Carol
